Revoltech Review - Fraulein Yoko Movie Version

Gurren Lagann is a Manga and Anime which takes place in a fictional future, wherein human being are forced to live under ground. In one of these subterranean villages Kamina and Simon find a mecha called a Gunmen and thus their journey begins, they make it to the surface and begin a war against the Beastmen under the name Team Gurren.
Yoko is a young women who teams up with Kamina and Simon, she is from a neighbouring village and hunts down Gunmen. She is outgoing character and is a very skilled fighter. Yoko dreams of becoming a teacher and is very fond of children. She is attractive and full of attitude.

Sculpt:

This is Yoko Movie Version.

Yoko's sculpt is fantastic, like all Fraulein Revoltechs she is very feminine, and is a good representation of her character. She has a nice curvy waist, thick thighs, large chest, and great hair. Her chest is a bit on the large size, but what can you say about fan service, oh well I like Yoko even if her chest is a bit large. Her design is very good, hiding her joints as best as possible giving her natural look. Well as natural as an anime character can look.

No complaints about the sculpting she is a very attractive figure.

Paint:

Yoko has a great paint job, like all Fraulein Revoltechs the quality and detailing in her paint work is top notch. The fire on her boots is awesome the bikini is also very well done; her face is just so sweet and gorgeous. Her hair is painted lovely and her skin tone is good.

Also the job on her accessories is also very good, her guns have nice detail, and her hair pins are a nice shiny gold colour, and each hand has her gloves painted neatly on. Her boots are also great, so awesome; I love the giant zipper on the side.

Only complaint about paint job is that where the Fraulein Revoltechs joint moves at the bottom the paint on her shorts is not continued on the piece which covers the gap.

Apart from that it is a great paint job.

Pose/Articulation:

Yoko uses the E.L.F joint system, which is used by all Fraulein Revoltechs.

Her hands are on Revoltech joints, which move forwards and back and rotate, her elbow is a hinge joint, bending and straightening, a very natural movement, she has two joints at her shoulder, a swivel joint at the top of her arm allowing her arm to rotate, and at her shoulder a Revoltech joint so she can move her shoulder forwards back, up and down, and rotate.

Her neck has a Revoltech joint, so she can look up and down and side to side, note her head movement is somewhat restricted when using the hair down version.

Under her chest she has a Revoltech joint, to lean forwards and back and twist, her twisting is limited somewhat due to her large chest.

At her bottom/top of her thigh she has a Revoltech joint that moves forwards, but not backwards or side to side. Half way down her thigh she has a swivel joint for turning her leg in and out, is nicely disguised by her stockings, which stop at that joint. Her knee is a hinge joint, giving her a natural movement of knee going backwards. Lastly at her feet she has a Revoltech joint allowing her to point and flex, due to her boots her feet cannot turn in and out as with some of the other Frauleins.

She also has an additional Revoltech joint in her ponytail hair, so that it can be moved around freely, and her hair down is made of soft PVC and can be moved around to an extent.

Only problem with restriction of movement is when using her hair down version. Aside from that great possibility.

Base/Stand:

Yoko comes with the standard Fraulein Revoltech stand, which is black and has her make (Fraulein Revoltech), her name and the series she comes from written on the base. The stand itself consists of a base a pole which pegs into it, and then a two jointed Revoltech Joint, which goes in the top of the pole and then into a U shaped holder. The thing to note about the Fraulein Revoltech stands is that they are too tall for the characters, and so when in the stand their legs dangle in the air. However as Yoko has a hair down piece they had made a hole in the back of her hair so that you can plug her straight into the stand, without using the U shaped holder, and by using this option her feet can touch the base of the stand.

Packaging:

Yoko comes with the standard Fraulein box, with a window at the front, a picture of her posing on the side, on the other side details and pictures of the E.L.F joint system which the Fraulien Revoltechs use, and on the back pictures of her accessories and some of the poses she can do, and other info, on the bottom of the box all the authorized info, with her authorization stamp, and warning statements (all writing in Japanese)

Inside the box she is held between two moulded pieces of plastic, with her large accessories, her hands and stand are in plastic bags attached to the back of her casing. This is standard packaging for the Fraulein Revoltech line. Also take note of the authorized sticker, each figure should have one.

Enjoyment:

I will break down my review of enjoyment into two categories, accessories, and play value.

Accessories:

Yoko comes with a good array of accessories. Firstly she comes with her main sniper gun, which you see a lot in the anime series, but this version also comes with two other guns which are featured in the movie, a shortened version of her rifle, for close range combat, and also a small hand gun. They also included two stands for the sniper rifle, that plug into it, one with the stand down for aiming one up for when on the run, also the strap on the rifle is soft PVC, so she can slide it over her arm, a very nice touch.

She also comes with an alternative facial expression and four pairs of extra hands and one hand doing the 'peace sign'. Yoko also comes with her signature pony tail hair, as well as a hair down option, and they even included a pair of her hair pins which she can hold in her hand, great for before and after shots of her letting down her hair. Her scarf is also removable.

Play Value:

Using her array of accessories and her range of possibility, Yoko is a lot of fun; you can act out intense battle scenes with her various guns, and get her to do some very expressive and impressive poses. With her hair up or down option she is fun to create little comic strip scenes with. Also due to the fact that all Fraulein Revoltech figures are interchangeable it is great fun to combine Yoko with some of the accessories and clothing my other Frauleins have.

Enjoyment is a 9/10

Over all Yoko is a very sexy, cute, and dynamic figure. Kaiyodo have done a great job capturing her character and personality in this figure. Her sculpt is great, her possibility is Fraulein excellent, and her enjoyment value is way up. I defiantly recommend her to anyone who is fan of Yoko and the anime Gurren Lagann.

7.2/10 Total
