The Xenosaga series is a series of science fiction video games. The Xenosaga series begins in the year T.C. 4767, and mankind exists on distant planets and artificial colonies. In this world Vector Industries, the largest corporation in existence and the primary arms manufacturer for the Galaxy Federation, has been researching new ways to use nanotechnology to build an unstoppable anti-Gnosis battle android, code-named KOS-MOS.
Packaging:
KOS-MOS comes in a standard Figma box.
On the front is a window for viewing the figure, on one side is the Figma logo, on the other is a picture of the figure, on the back there is relevant information, all in Japanese, and pictures of the figure in various poses with their various accessories. Instructions for swapping face pieces and other items are usually printed on either inside of the box tabs or on a piece of paper slipped inside the packaging. Also take note that all figures you purchase have the correct authentication printed or stickered on the box.
Inside the box the figure is held between two pieces of moulded plastic, with spaces for their accessories. The extra hands and the base of the Figma stand are stored in plastic bags underneath the figure in the plastic moulding. Figures are usually wrapped with plastic in certain areas to protect the paint. Boxes also come with inserts which act as backdrops in the box and can be taken out and used for backdrops while displaying figures. KOS-MOS' backdrop is blue and white sort of snow scene. KOS-MOS also comes with a special cut-out to use with the Di: Stage.
Figma’s also are supplied with a small zip-lock bag to store all the accessories in, the name of the figure can be written on this bag so that figure accessories can be stored neatly. Figma’s also come with a neat little device for storing the extra hands in.
Packaging = 8/10
Stand:
KOS-MOS comes with the standard Figma stand. Made of clear plastic it has three points of articulation which move forwards and back on hinge joints, one joint is at the bottom where it plugs into the base, one in the middle and one where it plugs into the Figma. The articulation of the stand allows the Figma to be posed in a variety of dynamic poses, and because it is clear it does not interfere with the aesthetic of taking dynamic and exciting photos.
KOS-MOS also comes with two extra pieces of plastic rods which plug into her guns to give them support. A very nice touch by Max Factory.

Sculpt:
This is KOS-MOS Version 4, which means its KOS-MOS in her fourth costume that she appears in in the games.
KOS MOS' overall design superb based on her outfit from Xenosaga III. She has several layers of detailing and sculpting and all are done exceedingly well.
Starting from the top her hair is nicely sculpted with her head piece being used to seamlessly allow for the joints in each piece of her hair, her fringe piece is also nicely moulded. Hear head piece at the front is nicely sculpted with her spiky wings at each side of her face, and as always the face is nicely shaped. Then comes her upper body, there is really lovely sculpting on her back with the detailing of her armour looking very intricate. Her front is also very good with a peep section in her shirt to show off some of her assets. Her sleeves are nice and so are her cuffs with their grand arrows. She has a very nicely shaped lower body and the lower part of her skirt is made of soft PVC and her side skirt pieces fit in with her edgy theme and its clear she likes to show skin as all of her upper thigh's is showing, KOS-MOS is also that first Figma to get a full on upper leg treatment. If you thought Figma Rider had nice legs and backside you will be stunned by KOS-MOS, Max Factory have gone out of their way to get her looking good and to reduce the amount hip joint you see. She has very full legs and they are shaped great with the back having nicely shaped bottom cheeks, which not only hide her hip joints when she moves but make her look very character accurate. The rest of her legs and boots are also well detailed with nice lacing and strapping on the back of them and nice sharp amour pieces on the front.
So overall a good sculpt, she has lovely detailing and keeps her ultra sexy space girl image which KOS-MOS is well known and loved for.

Paint:
KOS-MOS has a colour scheme of white, gold and navy blue. She is very aesthetically pleasing with her strong clear colours and chromatic gold.
Her hair is a nice semi-transparent light blue which goes almost white when light up. Her face is nicely detailed and I love her red eyes. All her paint work is done well with hardly any faults, and the logo's on her head piece and other areas look great, and are actually readable.
Overall she is very well painted and looks great, and I just love the purple laces at the back of her boots.
KOS-MOS' accessories are also exceptionally painted, with neat paint work, lovely shading on her swords blade and great detailed writing.
Paint = 9/10
Articulation:
KOS-MOS use’s the standard Figma joint system. Figma joints are hinge joints with pegs on either end allowing both forward and back movement and rotation.
Her neck is a Figma joint which allows the figure to look side to side, down and up. To change the faces on Figma’s the front piece of hair is removed and then the faces can be taken of and swapped.
The shoulder consists of a double joint, a ball joint which sits inside the upper body, this is attached to a ball shaped Figma joint which acts as the shoulder, and this allows full range of motion to the shoulder. Further down a Figma joint is used as the elbow and bends in and then out straight and there is some slight rotation for the lower arm to turn in and out. At the wrist the various hands plug into a small hole at the end of the arm. Each hand also has a hinge joint, which not only allows the hand to rotate but also to move up and down which gives the figure realistic wrist movement.
A waist joint is located under her chest. Waist joints are ball and socket joints, a ball joint will be attached to the upper body and which plug into a socket in the main torso, this gives the body twisting movement and bending forwards and back. At the hips a three jointed ball and socket joint is used. One ball plugs into a socket at the bottom of the torso acting as the hip joint; this allows the hips to turn side to side, lean forward or back, then on each of the other two ball joints the legs plug on. Each leg has an inner socket which the ball joint plugs into, this piece allows full range of motion from the ball joint and also allows the thigh to turn in and out as it pegs inside the main leg piece.
A Figma joint is then used as the knee allowing the knee to bend backwards and then out to straight, and there is some slight rotation for the lower leg to turn in and out. The ankle also is a Figma joint allowing the foot to point and flex turn in and out.
KOS-MOS has six points of additional articulation each side of her hair has a Figma joint allowing it to move around, also each side of her skirt piece is on a hinge joint allowing it to move up and down.
Pose:
KOS-MOS is therefore highly posable and can be posed in a variety of ways. With the use of the accessories supplied, her G-Shot Gatling guns, her R-Blade, the awesome Dragon Tooth, and her Phase Transfer Cannon, she can be displayed in a number of poses, fully awakened with her blue eye face piece, in Fatima Gras Mode, Ready for action with her G-shot, in battle with her Dragon Tooth, and launching her D-Teneritas attack. However there are a few areas in which articulation is restricted the design of her boots limits her foot movement substantially which can make it hard to balance her.
Articulation & Pose = 9/10
Enjoyment:
I will break down enjoyment into two categories: Accessories and Play Value.
Accessories:
KOS-MOS comes with two facial expressions; her standard expression, and her awakened expression with blue eyes where she takes on more human-qualities. KOS-MOS also comes with an assortment of hands; a pair of open hands, a pair of fists, a pair of hands for holding Figma accessories, a pair of hands for holding her weapons, and a pair relaxed hands.
KOS-MOS also comes with a number of other accessories. She comes with her two G-Shot Gatling guns which can be locked into place using her skirt pieces or else supported with two extra stand pieces, also included are effects pieces for the gun fire.
Then she comes with her Dragon Tooth, which is a sword and gun weapon, in the game you can see her using it to shoot and also it has a energy blade which comes out of it. And Max Factory have allowed you to have it both ways, you can have it plainly or you can detach each side of it and slide on the blade piece to create the sword version.
As KOS-MOS' body is formed from Nano machines she is able to morph parts of her body into energy projectiles and melee weapons, and so they included her R-Blade, which is her arm morphed into a sword, you simply remove on of her arms at the elbow joint and replace with the R-Blade piece.
She also has her grand Phase Transfer Cannon for her D-Teneritas attack, which is when a hidden knife on her shirt cuts it open so that she can shoot a strong energy blast from her chest. To use this simply slide off her chest piece and attach the D-Teneritas one.
And last but not least she has a pistol an alternative head piece with an eye scope to recreate her Fatima Gras Mode.
Play Value:
I will break down play value into two categories: Compatibility, with other figures and accessories, and general play.
Compatibility:
KOS-MOS is very compatible with other Figma accessories. And she is also good for some head swapping fun.
Next up is a height comparison, she is on the taller side of the Figma height scale, being around the same height as Aegis and Black Gold Saw.
General Play:
In general KOS-MOS is just fantastic she looks great has good range of movement and comes with an excellent amount of accessories plus she can be nicely swapped around with other Figma's. She is a brilliant figure and I recommend to any figure collector who can get their hands on her. However I will point out that you need to have patience when it comes to posing her, her weapons are big and take a while to get in an ideal pose.
Enjoyment = 9/10
Over all KOS-MOS scores 8.7/10
